OK, I must admit - I had gotten a kick the first time I saw the Obama T Shirts stating "Barack & Roll", "Barack the Casbah", and all the "hey, Obama rhymes with Mamma" t-shirts ... but let's face it ... that ship has sailed. They were merely cute, not necessarily funny or even close to cool. My personal fav? "Obama is the New Black"



Now that folks have had a little time for this whole political thing to set in, some much better Obama tee shirts are beginning to surface. It's a bird, it's a plane ...it's a .. hey wait, it IS a plane!

If you're like me, things that move just kinda get you going. Electric Cars, Gas Powered or electric bicycles, airplanes, trains ... pretty much the next thing smokin' (or humming) ...Im not saying i'm getting on it, but I can daydream about it.

Now, I don't know if it's the fact that the shirt is eco-friendly (read locally silk screened, uses some recycled material, made in the USA, yadda yadda) or the fact that the t-shirt has been on a celeb, and seen on TV - (Adrian Grenier, Alter Eco on Planet Green TV)but this sucker costs $46.99. Can't it be cool AND good for my wallet? I mean, it's still just a t-shirt, right?

(Don't read this wrong, I'm all about the efficiency aspect of "going green" ... but costing more bread ... is that efficient?)

That aside, it really is a great looking shirt, and you get some major dogooder points for sporting it - yesterdays recycled pop bottle is today's fashion statement.

Um, when I'm done with it, can I turn it in for a refund? Hey, a nickle is still a nickle.

Reduce your carbon footprint!

I was so inspired by my previous post, that I just had to take a crack at a "carbon footprint t shirt".

So I went to cafepress, after a little time in Photoshop, and here's what you get. My exclusive Carbon Footprint T Shirt on an organic cotton (of course). I tried to be subtle, yet firm. Notice no "pleases" or "thank yous"

How do you reduce this mysterious carbon footprint? Easy.

• Ride your bike to work if at all possible. If not, carpool.
• Turn off the lights and applances when your not using them (ok, Mom, you were right all along)
• Recycle. Recycle. Recycle. ... (as well as reuse, re-purpose)
• Look for organic cleaning products (the other stuff can leach into the ground, and become part of your drinking water supply ... yummy)
• Say no to styrofoam. Use a washable coffee cup.
• Use a rag. Paper towels are a repeat offender. (This one is not easy for me)

There's a start. See all that I'm learning from Planet Green TV?

Now go get yer stinking shirt for 20 bucks. When your done with it, shred it and use it to clean up that spilled sustainable coffee with those organic cleaning products.

Ever seen those cool band posters ... you know the ones plastered all over town just before your favorite rockers come to town? The ones that are impossible to get your hands on unless you know a guy who knows a guy? Ever wonder where they come from?

The rock poster has been around since the sixties - they were groovy then and have only gotten better. Guess what? Behind each stunning poster or album cover is a talented, honest to goodness hard working artist. You may not know theirs names, but you have seen thier work - and Faded Line highlights these art rockstars with some really freaking cool tees. This one is called Flame Guy by Todd Slater, and if it looks familiar it's because the design was featured on a concert poster for Ween & The Flaming Lips. And now, even if you have never heard of these bands - who cares ... you can still snag this looker of a t-shirt for about $22. A honey of a deal if you ask me. At first glance, at least to me, this Acropolis t-shirt named Regression looks as if they Acropolis logo is is being used as a tent, just outside the city limits.

Again, maybe it's just me; but while other people I know, work with or associate with fantasize about the 3 bedroom home 2.5 kids, plasma TV's and company picknics ... my guilty pleasure lies in a totally different direction ... If I'm sitting at my desk in the mid afternoon, staring off into space with a slight smile on my face - it's a fantasy that involves a 1970 something RV and a full tank of gas. When I run low on fuel ... wash dishes for a day or two ... fuel up, and move on. While to some that scenerio may appear to be regression, and maybe it is ... maybe that's exactly what we (or some of us anyway) really need.

Maybe progress is overrated.

Although I can's say for sure what the men and women of Acropolis were truly driving at, it's a darn cool t-shirt. Art IS still subject to interpretation isn't it?
